What types of programs are available at Hebrew College?
Hebrew College offers a variety of Jewish professional studies degree and certificate programs, including rabbinical ordination, cantorial ordination, several master's programs and a variety of certificates in Jewish education and Jewish music specializations. Who studies at Hebrew College?
Hebrew College is primarily a graduate school with a small number of undergraduate
students. Graduate students of all ages, backgrounds and beliefs come to Hebrew College
to pursue a career as a rabbi, cantor, Jewish educator or other Jewish communal professional.
Some students come to Hebrew College straight after college, others enroll after
working in the Jewish professions for several years, and still others study here
to prepare for a second career in midlife. In addition to those with professional
aspirations, some of our students enjoy coursework for the pure love of learning
and Jewish personal enrichment. All are welcome-
Do I have to be Jewish to attend Hebrew College?
No. Students from a wide variety of backgrounds are welcome to study at Hebrew College. The Rabbinical School and Cantorial Ordination programs in the School of Jewish Music are only open to Jewish students, but they do not require that students be affiliated with any particular stream of Judaism.
Is Hebrew College affiliated with a particular religious movement?
No. Hebrew College is pluralistic and welcomes students from a diverse array of religious and secular backgrounds.

Is the TOEFL required?
If English is not your first language, you will probably be required to complete the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); some students are given an exemption if they have completed a degree at an academic institution where the language of study was English.
Are GREs required?
No, GRE’s are not required for entry into degree or certificate programs, except for the School of Jewish Music.
